Taxes and Duties

Last updated: August 3, 2026

This policy applies to international orders placed with Polynesian Pride, operated by Polynesian Pride LLC.

International shipments may be subject to import duties, value-added taxes, sales or consumption taxes, customs-clearance charges, brokerage fees, and local carrier charges after reaching the destination country.

Unless checkout expressly states otherwise, import duties, taxes, customs fees, brokerage charges, and local carrier fees are not included in the product price or shipping charge collected by Polynesian Pride.

1. Importer Responsibilities

Customs requirements and fee structures vary by country and may change without notice.

For an international shipment, the recipient may be treated as the importer of record under the laws and procedures of the destination country.

The recipient is responsible for:

  • Providing accurate delivery and customs information;
  • Complying with applicable import restrictions and local laws;
  • Providing identification or documentation requested by customs or the carrier;
  • Paying applicable duties, taxes, clearance fees, brokerage charges, and local carrier fees; and
  • Completing customs-clearance procedures within the time required by the applicable authority or carrier.

Customers should contact the customs authority in the destination country before ordering if they need an estimate of possible charges or information about import restrictions.

2. Customs Clearance and Delivery

Customs inspections and clearance procedures may delay delivery beyond the estimated shipping timeframe.

Polynesian Pride does not control:

  • Customs inspections;
  • Import-duty or tax assessments;
  • Document-verification procedures;
  • Customs processing times;
  • Carrier brokerage charges; or
  • The release or detention of a shipment by government authorities.

The carrier or customs authority may contact the recipient directly to request payment or additional information.

Failure to respond within the required period may result in the shipment being delayed, returned, abandoned, confiscated, or destroyed.

Additional delivery information is available in our Shipping & Delivery Policy.

3. Unpaid Customs Fees and Refused Packages

An automatic full refund is not available when a package cannot be delivered because the recipient:

  • Refuses the shipment;
  • Does not pay applicable import duties, taxes, brokerage charges, or carrier fees;
  • Does not provide information required for customs clearance;
  • Does not respond to the carrier or customs authority;
  • Fails to collect the package; or
  • Otherwise fails to complete required import or delivery procedures.

Depending on the package status, the shipment may be:

  • Returned to a fulfillment facility;
  • Held by the carrier or customs authority;
  • Abandoned;
  • Destroyed; or
  • Otherwise disposed of under local procedures.

No fixed restocking fee: Polynesian Pride does not charge a standard percentage-based restocking fee.

However, when a package is refused, unclaimed, or returned because required customs charges or procedures were not completed, any refund or credit may be reduced by actual, reasonable, and nonrecoverable costs associated with the shipment.

4. Returned International Packages

If an international package is returned to an authorized facility, Polynesian Pride will review:

  • Whether the product was successfully recovered;
  • The condition of the returned product;
  • Original outbound shipping charges;
  • Return-shipping charges;
  • Customs, brokerage, storage, or carrier fees;
  • Handling costs charged by a fulfillment or logistics provider; and
  • Whether the made-to-order product can reasonably be resold or reused.

Depending on these circumstances, Polynesian Pride may provide one primary resolution:

  • A partial refund;
  • Store credit;
  • A discount code; or
  • Reshipment after payment of applicable shipping, customs, handling, or remake costs.

A refund or credit will not be issued until the package is received and, where applicable, inspected by the authorized return or fulfillment facility.

Packages must not be sent to the Polynesian Pride LLC registered business address unless our Support Team expressly provides written authorization.

5. Refund Limitations

The following amounts are normally non-refundable when delivery fails because the recipient did not complete customs or carrier requirements:

  • Original shipping charges;
  • Premium or expedited shipping charges;
  • Return-shipping charges;
  • Customs duties and taxes;
  • Brokerage or customs-clearance fees;
  • Storage charges;
  • Carrier handling fees; and
  • Other actual third-party logistics costs that Polynesian Pride cannot recover.

Polynesian Pride cannot normally refund duties, taxes, or customs charges collected directly by a government authority, shipping carrier, broker, or another third party.

The customer may need to request reimbursement directly from the organization that collected the charge.

If Polynesian Pride or a production or shipping partner caused the delivery failure, the issue will be reviewed under our Refund Policy and Exchange & Replacement Policy.

Nothing in this policy limits a mandatory refund, withdrawal right, statutory warranty, or consumer protection that cannot lawfully be excluded.
